WikMail Stationery Tutorial
The Beatles - Side Border
This is a Side Border stationery with another Graphic in the top right, one in the message area and a main background color. All the graphics were prepared using Paint Shop Pro(PSP). Download the three graphics"Beatles Graphics". Just unzip them to your computer.Perhaps you would have a folder in your "My Pictures" for Stationery graphics?
I have decided to try using a graphic layout of the positioning of the graphics in the Stationery Creator in addition to the normal detailed instructions. This way, creators who are more familiar with the Stationery Creator can complete the stationery in quick time without having to follow all the instructions. Let me know if you think it is a useful addition to the Tutorial.
A Big "Thank You" to Frederic for his helpful advice on positioning side borders in WikMail. He also creates a lot of great " imaginitive WikMail Stationery."
Importance of Side Border Positioning
I produced a stationary for the November Free Newsletter at WikMail Planet and put a full side border graphic in the General section. By doing this people with wide screens see the border repeated on the right and the text of that letter was overlapping the right side border. Here is a screen shot given to me by Frederic. One of Frederic's Chickens is pointing at the offending repeat side border. I cannot see this on my PC. So to ensure this does not happen, and you can see it in this tutorial, I placed the side border graphic in the Left section. I could also have tiled it in the Top Left section. In case you are wondering why the border does not go right to the top and bottom.... well that is because I have created a 50 pixel border all round in the General section. To have the sideborder all the way to top and bottom of the stationery I would have 0 in all the margin settings in the general section.
Let's get going on the Beatles StationeryTutorial
Open Stationery Creator - Menu /Tools/Stationery Creator. See below.

In Stationery Creator Click on Sections/Left Section.
Make sure 'Use Left Side' is checked. The width of the sideborder graphic is 200 pix so insert 200 in the width box.
Insert Border Graphic

Click on Browse and go to where you have the tutorial graphics stored on your computer. Open beatlesbdr.jpg. In the Alignment box select 'Tiled' and also ensure 'use Image as Background' is checked otherwise it will not tile.
Now Click on Sections/Message Area

Click on Browse and open the image beatlesmsgarea.jpg. In the Alignment box select 'Bottom Right'. Now go to the top Background color and use the dropper tool to click on the background of this pic. your message area should now be filled with the same color from this image.
Message Border
Width 8, Color#CCFFCC, Style double. Transparancy 100.
Message Text Margins
30 30 180 30
Stationery Font Verdana Size 10
Font Color Ligt Blue
Now Click on Sections/Top Section
If you are using a graphic in any section of the Top area you must first check the box in Top Section and insert the exact hight of the graphic.
Make sure the box "Use Top Section" is checked. Height 128. This because the height of the graphic for the top is 128 pixels high.
Now Click on Sections/Top Right

Make sure "Use Top Right" is checked. Click on Browse and open the graphic for Top Right, beatleshdr.jpg. Alignment - select Top Right.
Now Click on Sections/General

I have included this screen shot of the settings in the General Section. First , give the stationery a name at the top. I named this one "Beatles". I have tried to take colors from the graphics to make a good blend in the style of the Scroll bar. Use the color codes shown or experiment with some other colors that you feel might suit.
Margins I have used 50 in all 4 areas. That is about it - just need to save the stationery so you can use it to send in your emails.
Save the Stationery

In the General section, click on File/save as. When the pop-up appears it will have Beatles(or the name you gave the stationery) already inserted. Now insert the name of the Folder you want the stationery filed in. I put it in my Music Folder. If you do not have a Music Folder, just type Music into the space and WikMail will make a new folder entitled "Music".
Your Finished Stationery
Your finished Stationery should look something like this:
